I’m HEIDI CIECIURA
Welcome to my hub! I write adventures, thrillers and speculative fiction with a liberal dash of hot romance. Over the coming year I’ve decided to embark on a journey to share my experience of working on my latest project: the first novel in a 6 book adventure-thriller series with speculative and romance elements, seeking an agent, and hopefully getting it published. I will be documenting the highs and lows of the writing process as I work my way from outline to finished novel and beyond.
Literature and language have always been important to me – I’m even named after a book! Reading and writing stories can be both grounding and healing. Why live one life, when you can live thousands?
My Writing Journey So Far:
I first decided I wanted to be an author when I was five years old. Back then, it was about the love of storytelling, of making things up and basically fantasising about the kind of life I wanted my characters to live in – and I guess, by extension, the kind of life I wanted to live in.
I was homeless at the age of seven, ended up in children’s homes as a young teen, left to live on my own at the age of sixteen, and had my first child aged twenty. Reading and writing – and let’s face it, downright daydreaming – helped me survive some challenging times. I went to university later in life, graduating with a BA (hons) in English Language and Literature, and a few years later, an MA in Creative Writing.
I’ve written a trilogy about a sexy, troubled, psychic author, a standalone about a female true crime writer who has to remember her husband, and wrote eight contemporary romance novellas as a freelance ghostwriter. I had the idea for this new project before the death of my parents in 2017 and 2019, and the whole Covid lockdown thing. It’s taken a while to develop, but now I’m ready to take this adventure to the next phase.
I hope you enjoy following me on the journey from idea to publication, and that maybe it might inspire you to grab a book and get reading for the love of it, and even forge on with your own passion projects!
